S3 Colour Theory

All Resources » Standard Grade Graphic Communication » S3 Colour Theory

I made up a presentation for my last ever crit a a student teacher and the results are here. It contains information on: Primary and secondary colours; the colour wheel; Contrasting and Harmonious Colours; Emotions associated with colours; basic worksheet on the KI; Three exercises on pencil rendering requiring understanding of the topics covered.

A 50 minute lesson could cover the presentation and the worksheet, each exercise could be homework or be a class activity with as much or as little time as required. The slides are A4 size so what the pupils see on the screen is the same as the sheet they work on.
I handed out the exercise sheets and had the pupils trace the shapes either on the back or a new piece of paper in the colour they are rendering in. I did this so that the class doesn’t have to spend time drawing shapes or forms – instead they can concentrate on the actual task of rendering. It gets them into the habit of choosing a colour before starting drawing without making the task too complex.

Glad to help Cameron, but remember that Colour theory is only a small part of the course – make sure you work on all the other areas too, and get your folio done in good time before Easter in S4.

I am currently in third year and I was searching ‘Google’ for sites which could help me with the colour wheel, harmonising and advancing colours etc. as I have my Standard Grade Graphic Communication on Tuesday, 27th April 2010. This webpage was extreemly helpful to me as I found the information I required quickly and efficiently. Thanks =^.^=
