Would it be worth petitioning the SFA? No, probably not, they’ve made their position clear on Vogts time and time again - he will only be examined on his qualification campaign for the the World Cup. For my interest though who out there thinks he should go, and further to that, who thinks Gordon Strachan should replace him?
The SPL is facing a potential charge of bringing the game into disrepute for its shambolic handling of the promotion - relegation issue.
Individuals and clubs have been punished using the SFA’s powers and Peat [George Peat, chairman of the SFA's General Purposes Committee] insists it would be possible to do the same to the SPL.
I think the SPL should get some sort of reprimand for the fankle they’ve got themselves into. Clyde have the right idea proposing the league be expanded to a 14 or 16 team competition, even if their primary reasons are purley selfish.
Celtic’s 77-game unbeaten home record ends
Apologies to anyone who wants an unbiased blog.
It’s really quite interesting to be a fan of scottish sport at the moment. We are on the cusp of something, in both rugby and football. But the cusp of what?
It is of course far too early to see what successes Matt Williams will have with the rugby team, but what of Berti Vogts? I’ve already said my piece about him, on a few occasions and I don’t want to rant again but, why on earth did we play so badly against Wales tonight?
I know we always play better against big teams in important games but still, to lose so heavily after what we achieved against Holland at home is gutting, especially when you recall the result of the tie in Holland.
I’m not going to call for his head again yet, just hope to myself that we will do ourselves proud against the world beating, AIDS eradicating, crime stopping, peace inspiring, all-round good guys and superheros who visit Murrayfield on Saturday.
Oh, and didn’t Clive Woodward invent a time machine as well? Sorry, I mean Sir Clive Woodward.
Not that I’m cynical about the whole awards thing or anything. Oh no, not me.
In general I think the Olympics being held in London would be good for UK sport, but why London? In fact why should the Olympics be held in just one city anyway when other major events (Football and Rugby World Cups, Football’s European Championships etc) are held in whole countries. Obviously I realise that these examples all need the same sort of stadia and it isn’t logical to put 12 stadiums in one city and leave other cities without but if the olympics were held in a country rather than one city then new facilities could be spread around and be of benefit for the whole country. It doesn’t make sense and is totally unfair to give one city - beit a capital or not - a brand new athletics stadium, brand new swimmping pool and diving pool, brand new sports halls AND the income from hosting a majpr world event. And why if the games have to be hosted by just one city should it be London? Wouldn’t a more centrally placed city be better. It’s more likely to leave tourists keen to travel the rest of the country than a city right at the bottom. It’s harder/more expensive to get to than other cities from most places. And it gets a lot of tourist anyway being the capital.
And what a horrid logo they’ve chosen for their bid.
Of course I would never advocate rigging a vote, except in this case of course.
