Hi Donald,

I would have thought that 2008 would have a way of saving so that older versions could open them.
If only there was some sort of national intranet that would let us share resources like this ;-)

I'd be interested to see how you get on with building the school. Hawick High is way to complicated to be done by our younger pupils but I think that a lot of the newer PPP buildings would suit it.

Thanks for the comment,
Stuart

Hi Stuart,

I'm a regular visitor to your site. I liked your idea of producing models of all the Higher GC drawings. I've started work on my own version of that, however I use Inventor 2008 and it's incompatible with the 2007 version we use in school. I've decided to take up the challenge of using Sketchup to put our school (Cumbernauld High) on the Google map. It ticks quite a few boxes in CfE and is ideal for cross-curricular links. Keep up the good work.

Hi Geoff it'd be great to have the file and I could add it to mine.

I don't really have any plan of where this would go, and it doesn't matter what service it's based on somakes sense to use one where the detail is good. I went for Google Maps and Earth simply because I had the idea when I was using them anyway. I didn't realise that Microsoft Live had this option until your comment.

It's handy having a file that can be shared so I might stick with google for now but I'm open to ideas, and don't lay claim to the project so anyone can take it and run with it without me minding.

An idea I had is that in time it could be built up to include more details on each school, and to have a version of the school buildings that have been built in Sketch Up. I have shamelessly pinched this idea from Islay High School.

I've got the East Ayrshire Secondaries on Google if you want the file. There isn't a lot of detail around Kilmarnock just now - Microsoft's Live Earth is better. Here's my shared link if you want a look, you then pick the aerial view (or the hybrid one which shows the street names as well):-

East Ayrshire Secondaries – Microsoft Live Earth 18/06/2007

Maybe we'll get the Primaries etc. done sometime and then all schools might be available under GLOW.
