My desktop is back!

7:52 pm on the 9th of May, 2006

I finally ordered a new power supply for my desktop which has been sitting unused for a few months, for only a few pounds I got myself a fancy new 350W (ooh, what power!) silent supply, if it had been cheaper I’d have been aswell just getting the noisy one though because of the noise of my CPU fan.

It’s a bit funny using the machine again, remembering how I used to work pre-notebook. All of my old bookmarks seem oddly familiar, yet unfriendly. My files are organised in what now seems an archaic structure that I can’t find my way around, but the desktop - the bit where the icons are that is, not the machine - oh my, the desktop is great, one of the economies mistakes I made when I ordered the notebook was not getting a grahics card with a large resolution, only 1024×768, but the Desktop is great, I’m sitting here looking at a whopping 1280×1024. I’d forgoten how much information I used to be able to load infront of me.

So now I’m sitting here wondering how best to set up this system, I have two drives, one which I pinched from Morven’s old PC which I’ve wiped and I thin I’ll use it as a place to install the programs and to save large files - in two separate partitions - while I muddle throuh with my OS and my documents all clumsily held together on the origianl drive. Another option though is to play about with linux… I almost had Ubuntu installed on my external drive a few weks back but then uni work took over, fi I find time before NZ I might get it up and running here, just for the craic that is.
