Peter Crouch

Lordy, my brother and regular foolfillment commenter has been working on a fantastic idea, I don’t want to steal his thunder so will give him an opportunity to explain it in the comments, but first I will say that I can’t wait for the next iteration and am very excited about it – I can see it being made open for general use on the interwebnetthing, it is potentially a very popular project.
Since my last entry about two weeks ago I’ve been quite busy but I’ve got out of the habit of noting things down. When I have a routine I function much better, and simple things like just taking the time to summise my activities each day is one of the things that helps that.
Monday 21st to Friday 25th
Off on the Monday, Tuesday was a BBC video in Education – about two headteachers swappung school for two weeks, pretty interesting, 3T3 was no tech, meaning a lesson using nothing with a plug. Educ and asses was a struggle to get through, with such a negative lecturer I find it hard to respect what she says – everything is a battle of us against them in her eyes. Then Understanding energy, I left after an hour was only going over a tutorial and it wasn’t much use for me.
Wednesday was college, which has been disappointing this year – very disorganised, I’m not sure if it is to do with the change in lecturer (a returnee from a secondment, so it shouldn’t have had a negative impact). Swapped overf in metalwork, managed to beak a centre drill. I can’t get the hang of lathes!
Thursday was design and an introuction to using powerpoint, again Eddie is pulling out all the stops and making his courses the most appealing and worthwhile of all we do.
Friday was empty because Materials was cancelled, just as well because I was knackered after caving club the night before.
Monday 28th to Friday 2nd.
Monday was a slow day because of a late return from a GUPA Derbyshire trip, but I did manage to get a fair bit done, mostly design things and a meeting with Gail. Tuesday, education and a talk about ethnicity, a demonstration of the interative whiteboard from Eddie – he’s very excited by it! and then Assessment lecture, a struggle again. Decided not to go to Understanding Energy as it has been a fairly useless series of lecures and this week she is just continuing to go over a tutorial she was doing last week. I also felt pretty rough, I think Ive had a bit of a cold. Went and bought a Christmas tree instead.
Wednesday, feeling even worse than Tuesday so missed college, got a fair bit of design done indtead – Presentations very soon!Heard that not much gpt done again, it;s disappointing that this part of the course is so poor this year, it was bad last year, and this year wasn’t supposed to happen, makes me fed up.
Thursday. Learning and Teaching strategy meeting as part of my SRC remit, pretty interesting discussion about retention rates at Glasgow Uni (about 80% compared to 94% in other Russel group unis) then on to another session on Powerpoint, then went to town with Gail and bought some styrofoam to model our radios with, the glue is drying as I write this. Friday didn’t happen once again. I’m not even sure if we have any more Materials lectures this year.
And that ends the recap, I feel suitably purged.
