The £10 subscription has never been optional it’s compulsory.The likes of scottish Hills.com provide a far superior product,trip reports being their ‘jewel in the Crown’,at no cost to the user.
I agree with Zak.Munromagic is after money and money is their driving force.

Have you tried Walk Highlands? The site now features most of the Munros and has much more detailed descriptions than Munro Magic, as well as free OS maps of every route that you can print off. There’s lots of other stuff too - you can view the routes in Google Earth or download them to your GPS. Very accurate they are too.

I have used MunroMagic for years and find it very useful when planning any trip. The annual cost of £10 is optional but great value in my opinion. They also offer a free trial membership if you are unsure.

Having used Munromagic for a few years I was surprised when they started charging £10 annual subscription.Being a keen walker I decided to pay the subscription.I wish I hadn’t.The site has undoubtley got worse and slower in the last 2 years.The people who are running it seem more concerned in bringing in money that looking after the needs of its members.My advice would be to keep your money and look elsewhere on the web for similiar free sites as there are plenty out there.

I can still access it? They do seem to have changed it considerably since I last looked at it, most significantly being a new map interpreting google maps.

I came across this site before a few years ago - remember it looked really good at first, but after a few visits decided it wasn’t all it was cracked up to be. Can’t remember why - could of been lack of web-savvy on my part at the time, or it could be that I knew/know a fair bit about them and so it simply wasn’t that useful. Not that deep down I prefer books to the web, especially for more detailed stuff, and I’ve a few books - I think that was it. Far more fun to slump on a sofa with a whisky and read a book then sit at a desk and read on-line.
