Glipmse At The Good Life

6:01 pm on the 2nd of October, 2004

A while back I said I was playing with google’s Picasa and I suppose I should let you know what I think. It’s good, probably not the best free picture organiser out there but it is filled with nice features and fancy graphics (which means I’m hooked). It wasn’t that hard to add keywords to jpegs before but now it’s easy and you can add to gifs and other formats too. Why might you be bothered to do this though? The answer is that it’s made by google and if you add keywords to photos then it’s very easy to find photos later using the search.

It’s not perfect by any means (it searches through all the parent folder names so if you search for stuart on my pc you find every photo I have because they all have Stuart in somewhere in the file address) but it does make things look nice and it is only version 1.6. My verdict : it’s free and it’s only a smallfile to downoad, why not give it a shot? You might even like it.

Don’t Keep Up With The Cool

My first design project this year is to design a wet shave razor for French Connection UK’s (fictional) entry into that market, it’s supposed to reflect the sort of other products they already sell and appeal to a similar market which is where my sticking point is.

You see I’m stupid closed minded enough to have a blanket dislike of people who are stupid enough to be taken in by how cool it is to wear something almost rude and I’m going to find it hard to not design a product that has features like nicks in the blades that fashion designers scars across your cheeks (as is eternally popular in Glasgow) because I’m sure that it would sell, with the right marketing that is.
