voting is a threat to democracy

2:33 pm on the 3rd of June, 2004

that’s what the BNP seem to be claiming.

Dr Phil Edwards, BNP press officer on the letter from the Muslim Council of Britain that urges Muslims to turn out and vote in the local and European elections:

“They are threatening the democratic process by trying to influence people to vote against a party”

Source : BBC News

If, for argument’s sake, I were to urge teachers and nurses to vote Labour because they traditionally spend more money on public services than the Conservatives, then presumably by the BNP’s logic I would be undermining democracy, wouldn’t I? In fact every time Tony Blair says ‘Vote Labour’, or Michael Howard says ‘Vote Tory’, or any other politician asks people to vote for them, then they are undermining democracy. Aren’t they?

Or maybe the BNP are a bunch of facists who should be locked up, or even better deported from the country, maybe to Guantanamo Bay.

I think they are upset about the ‘we don’t care who you vote for, as long as it’s not the racists’ attitude. But that’s nit-picking.

you have to remember that while they won’t admit it, the core of the BNP consist of ‘people’ who, if England were to beat France in 10 days time, 2-1, with Heskey, Vassell & Pires the scorers, would claim that it was actually 1-0 to France.

They are unpleasant, unwanted, undesirable thugs. Hopefully (almost certainly, I think, tho if its a low turnout you never know), they won’t even get 5%.

So to anyone reading this, please. Next week, on the 10th, Go out and vote, or post your vote. Vote, Tory, Labour or Lib-Dem. Vote SNP, Green SSP or UKIP. Vote Heroin Addicts for Free Smack if you want. Anything but the BNP. Please.

Vote Heroin Addicts for Free Smack if you want

Go and don’t do that one, actually.

    I hope you’ve all voted now…

Heroin addicts for Free Smack weren’t standing, I’m afraid. Scottish Wind Watch were, tho, as were Operation Christian Vote. I’d never heard of either, tho I can guess in both cases. OWW don’t like the proliferation of wind farms, OCV are cranks

I’ve not voted yet, I’ll go after lunch. I realised it’ll be the first time I’ve voted, the first chance I got (last year’s Scottish and local elections) I voted by post so it’ll be a bit exciting going and voting for real this year.

As far as voting in a European election can be.

    What a load of rubbish.
You seam to know not a thing about the BNP but still you slag them off.
In years to come and you or your kids are in need of a home and you cant get one or any help because all the money is STILL being spent on asylum seekers and not the english people who actualy WORK then it will be your own fault. We are all suffering because of the goverment and people like you who are RACEST towards the WHITE ENGLISH you thing its only white people that think the BNP are correct and you are wrong! there are many other nationalitys that have lived and worked in England for years and are still not getting treated half as well as the asyum seekers its a JOKE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! look after your own is what i say !

Stuart is on holiday just now. I’m sure that when he returns misspelt, paranoid, misinformed nonsense such as this will be dealt with. In the mean-time it’ll just have to remain, embarrassing the author with it’s ignorance. I could correct ‘emma’ with regard to asylum seekers employment and benefit status, but won’t demean myself. Can I just request one thing. If the BNP are primarily concerned with English people, will they do the Scots, Northern Irish & Welsh a favour and rename themselves the ENP.
