This isnt rigging a vote. Merely tactical voting. My first choice, if I had one, won’t win, so lets prevent the coronation of the hated one. Shame you can’t vote for team of the year. That UEFA Cup run of Celtic’s was impressive. (Actually, that might be a step too far for me)
Oddly, I don’t actually mind Jonny Wilkinson winning the sports personality of the year. He is an excellent rugby player, and seems like a reasonable person too. If it was Martin Johnson for example, I would be with you though.
It is odd though, because generally I don’t want to hear about the England rugby team. However, every Scotsman knows that if England win something good, then you have to avoid any Britain-wide sporting programmes for at least 6 months, and ALWAYS the sports personality of the year.
What I do object to is the gloating though. I don’t know if you watched the Celtic Partick match last night, but Jonathan Pearce still managed to wedge a gloat in - “this is Scotland - NOT the home of the rugby world champions”. I would write in angry if it didn’t just display what a collection of bad sportsmen the English media are.

Enough though, or I’ll be here for hours.
