Violence at the theatre?

3:08 pm on the 16th of October, 2003

When you hear Malcolm Chisholm commenting on the lunchtime news you should listen more carefully because he isn’t talking about disturbances at performances of a musical by Sir Tim Rice:

“One of their clearest responsibilities is to treat any Chess staff with respect,” he said.

“I repeat today and will go on repeating, as I have for the last two years, that violence against any Chess staff will not be tolerated.”

time for change

10:27 am on the 15th of October, 2003

Glasgow looks fantastic at this time of year with the trees in their fancy dress outfits and the clear skys letting the sun stream through. I’m going to go for a cycle along the canal soon and by the time I’m back I’m going to have a new name for Stuart’s Weblog because I don’t like it, and it was only supposed to be a stopgap untill I got a real name. So with Stuart’s Weblog being over a year old now I feel it’s about time it was reborn, feel free to come up with any of your own suggestions while I’m away.

a confession

5:39 pm on the 13th of October, 2003

I’m sorry.

I snapped.
I had ?10 in my pocket.
I was walking past Fopp. The new belles album gestured to me through the window.

I’m sorry. If that was what anybody was going to get me for my birthday then I’m sorry, I beat you to it.

But as consellation, it IS very good so get a copy for yourself, however if anybody needed proof that the eighties are on the way back just listen to the final track.

Dino-sore

5:33 pm on the 13th of October, 2003

What happened to the tail of the dinosaur outside the Glasgow Uni main building? It doesn’t really look so mean with it’s tail hanging away from the body as it did when able-bodied during winter covered in frost.

mobile terrorism takes a step closer

5:11 pm on the 7th of October, 2003

Tomorrow Nokia launch their new fancy spangled phone (which, just so you know and don’t waste ten minutes of your time is what those ‘This is where…’ bus-stop posters have been advertising) and at the same time Taliban Telecom will be launching their first mobile which is the first in the world to offer Semtext Messaging.

the darkness

4:43 pm on the 7th of October, 2003

One of the things I was going to talk about was the sudden popularity of the darkness and why on earth anybody likes them, however lordy has already beaten me to it and the only thing i have left to talk about them doesn’t really come across well in a textual way but I think it’s great that people are starting to talk like the big tube who sings for them.
You hear them in the pub or walking down the street saying to their mates ‘I believe it’s time for another pint!’ or ‘I believe it is half past three, ooh ey oo-oo!’. I can’t help but laugh at them or point and it’s not the best idea because although they may be singing like pre-pubescent boys they’re usually big oafs who wouldn’t think twice about hitting you (incidentally I see John Hartson has been named as welsh footballer of the year!).

Anyway that’s my current gripe, them and imacs which I wouldn’t mind so much if I knew how to use the damned operating system but nobody in the world does so nobody knows what the hell to do when it freezes and there isn’t a delete button to press with those oh so familiar ctrl and alt ones. Ahh well I’m sure I learn before I break all of the ones in the building.

I’m back, I’m back in denim

5:23 pm on the 4th of October, 2003

I’m back at last (’Halleluiah’ I hear you say) after an all to long break. So what’s happenned in the time I’ve been away, well, I went to Spain, went to my brother’s wedding, I started back at uni and a whole load of other boring stuff and then finally broadband arrived in my flat. You can come round and use it if you like but only if you promise to fix our network because at the moment it does notwork.

Oh hang on, the rain’s just come on and I’ve got washing out.

Right where was I? That’s about it really. There was one other thing, Eddie Izzard is going to be the next Dr Who!

Erm, I’ll be back when I have something interesting to say and I’ve got the internet on my PC and don’t have to try typing on Stuart’s laptop.

Oh and just in case you were wondering why I had a wishlist, my birthday is on the 27th of this month.
