an end for IDS?

He’s really having a go in PMQ’s, it’s almost as if he really thinks he can still convince people to keep him.

Well, I am not getting to see it, but I think that he probably is for the off. They are hopeless the Tories, you’d have thought they’d realise that if they spend the whole time slagging their own party off, its not going to encourage the electorate to vote for them.

If I was a Tory, I would see it as being similar ot the Scottish manager job. Sure, Berti Vogts is quite flawed, but who else are we going to get?

I hope they do. I can’t understand it. Or them. The vast majority of constituancy parties want him to stay. Every opinion poll says they’ll lose votes by dumping him. But a few egotistical MP’s, whipped up by a pro-Labour media who are only to keen to help, won’t let go.

It’s not even as tho these egotistical MP’s can agree on anything. Some are bitter because Clark didn’t win last time. Others because Portillo didn’t win. David Davis because he didn’t win (and having seen him on Question Time a couple of times, the Tory party would be mad to let him on TV again). Others are just bitter. It’s personal ambition gone mad.

And yet - IDS has managed to get the Tory party to agree over Europe. Or at least, the argument he supports has prevailed. From being well down inthe opinion polls, they are at least level pegging. So what’s he done wrong. The only crime is that he’s not the best speaker/debater in the world. But outside MP’s who really cares about that. Do you watch PMQ’s weekly and think, wow? The electorate doesn’t. Because Hague was/is acknowledged as being the best there is at that sort of thing, and look where it got him.

    Stupid, stupid, stupid

The first sentence is incomplete. It should say
‘I hope they do keep him.’

    Well, I agree. But they didn’t. Ho-hum.
