going away
11:26 am on the 26th of June, 2003Since I last posted I’ve left halls where I had high-speed internet access in my room and come home to Dunbar to my ‘dial a 6 to start’ 56k line so that’s why it’s been quiet. It’s probably going to be quiet for a long time as well because I finally got a job sorted yesterday. Morven and I will be working in The Crown Hotel in Aberfeldy for a couple of months from next week. I don’t know if I’ll be able to get online at all or even be able to use a computer for dump photos, so if you’re feeling generous you can buy me one of these from my wishlist or even, if you’re feeling very generous/stupid, one of these.

Or you could buy them yourself with your wages….
Good you’ve got a job. I’ll look at the place when i get a chance, and make some cryptic comments then.
Oh yeah – it was Aberfoyle, not Aberfeldy that Susan went too. It’s in the Trossachs, so I think me and dad were both getting confused.

I’m using your web site as forum for my discontent
This story bugs me. McCall is a highly rated manager, but all his clubs have been done the same way. ditch lost of youngsters, use the spare cash to buy less, more expensive, experienced players. Here, united lose two u-21 players, who (may) have done great things for utd, but get a keeper, who, tho not great, will make less mistakes than their current number 1, which is a shame, cos he’s good, and had mccall stuck by him, he may well have been scotland no. 1 come xmas, once douglas loses his celtic place.
Utd gain a reliable, reasonable keeper, but at what long-term cost? And it’s the tip of the iceberg. I saw a list of freed players in scotland. Utd seemed to have dumped their entire youth policy. Mclean built united foundations on the sands of an youth policy which produced countless kids, probably 3 or 4 scotland players a year. I can’t see McCall doing the same. If i was a utd fan, i’d be worried. they’ll do ok next year, but i wouldn’t want to bet on the next 5 showing steady imrovement after.
