on tonight’s drubbing
3:48 pm on the 30th of April, 2003I heard that tickets would be available for tonights Scotland game against Austria at Hampden would be on sale at the gate, which made me wonder when I went to a game last, and I think it was Scotland v Croatia almost 2 years ago. Tickets tonight start at just ?10 so might yet go if I can find someone who doesn’t mind going to watch such a potentially dire match. Perhaps one reason the famous Hampden Roar isn’t much of a whimper now is to do with fans not being able to find out how to get tickets through the SFA’s site - it’s awful. It looks like it’s based on the design of tickets and has approximately 4025 images layered over it with tiny text on the top. And as for the navigation…

You’re right actually, the SFA website is terrible. And they haven’t enough information about how to get tickets.
I hope you didn’t go. It was absolutely diabolical.
I’ve decided what is bothering me now. I have been thinking that things are a bit better under Berti, but I have worked it out now. Under Criag Brown, he picked terrible players. Every time a squad came out, I shook my head and complained. But then, throughout the majority of his reign, he got those terrible players to over-achieve. Now, Berti Vogts is picking the players I want. I liek the squads, I am enthused by them. And yet the players under-achieve, almost don’t even try under him.
Why can’t we have both?
But I was thinking last night, when we fail to qualify for Euro 2004, and we will fail, even if it means losing through a qualifier, and Berti loses his job, who are we really going to get to replace him? Seriously? I couldn’t think of a single suitable replacement who would actually take the job. Strachan/Moyes etc would all be great, but it ain’t going to happen. I think that worries me most. That we’ll end up with Willie Miller in charge.

Or we promote Tommy Burns. I’d prefer Sheridan I think.
But we went with a flat back four in the second half, and it seemed better. But I’m a fan of that idea, always have been. As Souness said on Sky last night at half time, all our defenders play in a back four week in, week out, so surely that should be the system we play?

I have a suspicion that they only play 3-5-2 because the majority of our good players hjistorically have been midfielders. So they try and cram them in.
We were better in the second half, but still not good.
I don’t want to talk about it any more. It makes me weep.
I think I would go for Tommy Sheridan. Instil a bit of pride? I bet he’d get them going for the England matches.
