?32 a ticket for the ball plus another ?40ish for kilt hire?

Unless I’m wrong that adds up to ?72.

I could go to the union and comatose myself on 60p vodka and cokes with that much and still have enough to pay for private health care to recover.

That sounds an awful lot to me.

Is it? or is it about right?

BBC NEWS | Scotland | Gags a go-go in Glasgow

It seems Glasgow are trying to start their own festival, great. It just seems to me like it’ll only serve to take away people from the Edinburgh one but it probaly won’t get as well established which is a bad thing because Scotland would end up with two gash festivals that have nothing worth going to, except people will still go to them.

And they’ll go just to clog up my streets when I’m in Glasgow during term (but with nothing worth me going to) and then clog up Edinburgh’s streets during August when I’m most likely to be anywhere near there (again with nothing good to see anymore).

Or am I being too cynical?

finally, someone in power with some sense

BBC NEWS | Scotland | Question mark over islands’ status

To be classed as an island it must not:

  • have less than 50 permanent residents
  • be attached to the mainland by a rigid structure
  • be less than one kilometre from the mainland
  • contain the capital of an EU state.

Under those criteria then surely the whole of Britain would not be an island!
