i hate exams

3:34 pm on the 27th of January, 2003

or more specifically i hate maths exams.
it’s on wednesday (i think - i’d better check that one out) and i’m not loking forward to it one bit.

maths and me have always had the same cyclical relationship - i don’t understand it, i can’t do it, i work hard as hell at it and get nowhere, i sit an exam or a test in it, i either scrape a pass or fail, i suddenly click and understand it all but just that little bit too late, i start learning harder maths, i don’t understand it, i can’t do it…

i hate maths.

i often think it hates me too.

it doesn’t help that i’m feeling a little bit ill today, there’s been a nasty flu going round recently, i hope i’m not getting it. maybe it’s just that i was out last night…

Two things to break the cycle:
    a) move phase six forward a couple
    and/or
    b) forget “hate” and convince yourself you enjoy it, then you will, and it’ll all become easy (honest).

A lot of your posts seem to start or end with
‘in the pub last night’ or similar words. Could this and your maths problems be linked???

I really hate exams. In my crappy school we are pressured into taking a science test every 3 weeks! That’s a whole load of revision on top of the mountain of homework I already have, and, as if that’s not enough, I have to endure MORE revision for my upcoming S.A.T.S. ARGHHHHHHHH! Why can’t they just leave us to get on with those fat revision guides they force us to buy? Grrrr

I know exactly how you feel, only i’ve given up. I’ve got into the habit of walking into a maths lesson and switching myself off; i spend the 50 minute lesson gazing out the window, chatting to my friends or wondering what i’ll be eating for dinner that evening! I just think that my brain doesn’t function in a mathmatical way. Im more of a creative, imagination fuelled student. I love english and enjoy drama; RE is also another of my favourites because i enjoy voicing my opinion and debating with the class. I am now focusing my revision on the subjects that i know i can do well in, and have accepted the fact that a fail is coming my way in the summer when our exam results are distributed.
