The Reindeer Section @ the QMU
12:36 pm on the 15th of December, 2002Last night I saw the Reindeer Section at the QM. Very good indeed, the albums are both really gentle affairs and we were expecting a gig where people just talk amongst themselves and give poilite applause inbetween songs, in fact so did most of the people there ( for example the guy who read his book during the support act and the two elderly men who were playing dominoes at the table next to us) but what we found out was reindeers rock! The place was absolutely jumping.
It was another strange sort of ‘rolling subs’ gig like belle and sebastian were in March. There were no less than 7 people on stage at any one time and another 7 or so waiting in the wings. Did anyone else see them, what did you think?
I saw the girl who did Lordy’s wedding photos and her boyfriend ( I forget their names) there but didn’t realise who they were until after it finished.

The boy is fatboy and the girl is fatboy’s bird…they are hard. If i saw them at a gig i wouldn’t approach them either…they are as mad as fuck. [are you allowed to swear here?] especially when they get a drink in them.

you can swear all you like but I will point out that my mother has a nasty habit of reading this, so anonymous-ness(?) may be a good idea

Didnt see you there, stuart or I would have said hello, we were scanning the seats aswell, longingly, lookin for an opening but it never came. Didnt see the dominoes dudes either - they had the right idea though - gig pastimes.

T’was the man himself alright, we watched him come in just before the band came on, raincoated, ticket in hand - Their claims of ‘no concessions’ must have been true - Then later on he was hanging about near the back railings, where we were, humouring the odd fangirl, soakin up the atmos ;)…Just incase you were wondering.

On a slightly related note, I believe Stuart Murdoch and his entourage will be doing a Peel session type gig on Radio 1 this Wednesday at 10pm.
If that is of any interest

No I was on a pub crawl on Sauchiehall Street, I did hear a bit of the start of the evening session - I didn’t realise that they were getting rid of it!
